To Mason, Reeve & Zane,
I didn’t know your dad deeply myself, but I feel I came to know a part of who he was through your mum — through the way she spoke about him, the love she still carries for him, and the beautiful life you all shared together as a family.
What I do know is that your dad was dedicated to supporting his family and that you boys and your mum were the centre of his world. Even though his time here was far too short, the love he had for you is not something that ever fades or disappears — it remains steady, lasting, and carried forward in everything he did for you and everything he hoped for you boys.
When I did see Matthew, he always had a smile on his face — a smile that I now see reflected in each of you boys, a piece of your dad that you will always carry with you.
As you grow older, I hope you hold tightly to the stories, memories, laughter, and little moments people share with you about him. In those moments, you will continue to find pieces of who he was, and a connection to him that will always stay with you.
I also hope you always remember just how incredible your mum is. She is one of the strongest women I have ever had the privilege of knowing — full of love, self-sacrifice and unwavering devotion to you boys. The way she shows up for you every day, committed to always putting you boys first, is something truly special. No matter what life brings, her love for you will always be unconditional. It will be the constant that holds you up, guides you forward, and surrounds you in every step you take. And through her, your dad’s love and memory will continue to live on in the heart of your family.
I have no doubt that your dad will be so incredibly proud of the young men you will become.

Matthew "Matty" will be remembered as one who touched my heart and my life. More than a friend, rather like one of the family. He never failed to make us all laugh and there was never a dull moment with him around. Matt worked hard and lived life to the full. He showed love and care to those around him, both family and friends.
My family and I spent the afternoon and evening celebrating Dane's birthday with Matty and his family just a couple of days before he left us. After a few drinks Matty was in his element telling stories of the past and what we'd all done together over the years. Fishing, cars and friends all got a mention. He also spoke about how much he loved Vanessa, the incredible person she was and the wonderful way she cared for him and the boys. He spoke as a husband and father who knew he was loved and as one who loved his family greatly.
Vanessa, Mason, Reeve and Zane you were the centre of his life and the ones he treasured the most.

Matty, the boy I regarded as my other son and you would say just that to me "you know I'm your other son Kaz". I loved hearing you say it. You were a big part of our family and our lives. At all the family celebrations and get togethers. As a school kid, you'd wander up to our house with Dane after college and we'd see you each weekend. Pretty sure you spent more time at our place than you did at yours!
Mason, Reeve and Zane.... your dad would always talk proudly about you, what you were up to and what you'd achieved. He'd say how much he loved you boys and your mum and how important you all were to him. He had praise for your mum and the job she was doing to raise you and how much he appreciated her.
Your dad was an incredibly hard worker and a perfectionist at what he did. He was a very popular man who was always up for a good time.
Always know that you had a dad who loved his three boys and your mum more than anything.
On 14/3/26 we were all at Dane and Sarah's house celebrating Dane's birthday. Your dad gave me a big hug when I arrived and an even bigger one when I left. I treasure that last hug.

Matty, such a genuine, kind hearted man — the kind of person who always had time for everyone in the room. No matter where he was, he would consciously make the effort to come over, have a chat, and make you feel important.
It was impossible not to notice how deeply he adored his family. I’ll always remember one night when he spoke so lovingly about Vanessa to me, saying how much she did for the kids and how she was the one that held the family together, and that she truly had the hardest job of all. It said so much about the respect, love, and gratitude he carried in his heart.

Those Biceps!!! We were doing a bathroom site measure, the old girl client took one look at Matt’s arms, pushed me aside, wrapped her hands around those biceps and lead him into the bathroom with a big smile on her face!! I remember first meeting Matthew at our local Anytime fitness at Woodcroft. " I was like geez, look at the rig on this fella, he is a unit hahah." As Matty got to know close friends of mine, we all became good mates. We would catch up on weekends as groups and hit the town for drinks and party.
Matty would also come up to Mannum on long weekends and stay at the shack the Roberts family would hire, and we had a blast up there. Riding jet ski's, wake boarding, on the tubes, fishing etc, plenty of drinking and having a great laugh, it was always a blast.
As years went on, he finally met this beautiful girl called Vanessa at the gym. Loved bloom, and then they got married, and grew a beautiful family. I was so Happy for Him.
I was privileged with so many good memories with this legend, can't believe he is gone, but you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again, rest easy, and always shine down brightly on your family and guide them with signs bro. Hi boys, your dad was a very special person to my whole family and I saw a lot of him over the past 30 years. He was my brother's best friend (Dane), all the way back from when they started high school together, so your dad was at my family home all the time growing up. He was an excitable, happy, funny & fun teenager. He loved to hang out with my brother & they were always into the same things as each other (bikes, skating, video games, CARS to name a few). When we all got a bit older and finished school, we would go out at night together. Your dad was a great dancer. He had so much rhythm and so many dance moves, that other people around us would make space to watch him and my brother dance. They knew how to have fun and light up the people around them as well. Your dad was at many main events in my family's life, including my brother's most recent birthday 13/03/26. He was very generous, always offering to shout a drink to those around him. On my 40th birthday he bought me a pair of white sneakers that I really wanted, I'll never forget that. He tiled my kitchen and laundry for me a few years back as well. A meticulous job, he was always a hard worker who paid attention to detail and enjoyed his work. He loved you boys so much. Every time I spoke to him he would talk about you all. One of my last conversations with him was about you, Zane. He was telling me what a little go-getter you were. How you loved to climb & run and burn lots of energy. When he spoke, you could see the sheer love in his eyes. He was so proud of you all. Your dad will always stand out as the most kind hearted, easy going, friendly, happy guy. He was such a joker and it wouldn't be long before he'd have whoever he was around, laughing alongside him. He never sweat the small stuff and was a very positive man. Being a single mother, he always took me aside to check in on me. Letting me know he was there for me whenever I needed him. That's the kind of caring, gentle-hearted man your dad was.
