They say it takes a village to raise a child. Brian (and indeed the entire Peterman family) is a founding member of my village. I don't have many memories before 1985 when we met the Petermans in Sitka. Even after that, when stationed far away, we were 'family'. Family that visited each other whenever possible, family that sent VHS tapes of our lives back and forth to each other (well before Facetime!), family that you knew you could call on. How blessed I am to have had Brian's input into my formative years - what a role model! He continuously modelled love, kindness and generosity; integrity, diligence and respect; and of course, humour! I will always have those strands to my bow and for that I am ever grateful. My heart goes out to all of you today, but know that Brian will always be in our hearts, his influence far-reaching -- beyond what you could imagine. All my love, Sarah
Brokenhearted for you Allie......Brian was a rare breed of a man that only comes along rarely in life . And he was so lucky to have you by his side..... Godspeed to you Brian, on your journey back home.......
I will carry the man— who let differences stand without apology, who showed me, by simply being, what steady looks like when the light fades. Thank you, Brian. The epiphany arrives bittersweet: love does not require likeness. It only asks that we sail alongside, for as long as the wind allows. Rest easy shipmate.
Brian will be remembered for his warm spirit. He brought the life to every gathering…quietly. His was the opinion you sought. If you knew Brian…you miss him.
Job Well Done Brian, Godspeed , on your journey back "home".....
